Getting Started
QWhat is StorageBuddy?
StorageBuddy is a storage organization app that uses QR codes to help you track and find items in your storage spaces. Create containers, add items, print QR labels, and scan them anytime to see what's inside.
QHow do I get started?
Sign up for a free account, create your first Space (like 'Garage' or 'Attic'), add Containers within that space, and start cataloging your items. You can then print QR codes to attach to your physical containers.
QDo I need to download an app?
No! StorageBuddy works entirely in your web browser. Just scan QR codes with your phone's camera and you'll be taken directly to the container's contents.
Spaces & Containers
QWhat's the difference between a Space and a Container?
A Space is a location (like 'Garage', 'Basement', or 'Storage Unit'). Containers are the boxes, bins, or shelves within those spaces where you store items.
QCan I move containers between spaces?
Yes! You can edit any container and change its assigned space. The QR code stays the same, so your labels don't need to be reprinted.
QIs there a limit to how many containers I can create?
Free accounts can create up to 10 containers. Paid plans offer unlimited containers, spaces, and items.
QR Codes
QHow do I print QR codes?
Go to any container and click the 'Print QR' button. You can print individual codes or batch print multiple containers at once. We recommend using adhesive labels for easy attachment.
QWhat size should I print the QR codes?
We recommend at least 1 inch (2.5cm) square for reliable scanning. The print page is optimized for standard label sheets.
QWill the QR codes work offline?
The QR codes link to your container's page, so you'll need internet access to view the contents. However, you can save containers for offline viewing in your browser.
Families & Sharing
QCan I share my storage organization with family members?
Yes! Create a Family and invite members via email. You can assign different roles (Owner, Admin, Member, Viewer) with different permission levels.
QWhat are the different family roles?
Owner: Full control including billing. Admin: Can manage spaces, containers, and members. Member: Can add and edit items. Viewer: Read-only access to view contents.
QCan I be part of multiple families?
Yes, you can join multiple families and switch between them easily. Perfect for managing both home and shared spaces like a vacation home.
Billing & Plans
QIs StorageBuddy free?
Yes! The free plan includes up to 10 containers. For unlimited storage organization, check out our paid plans.
QCan I cancel my subscription anytime?
Absolutely. You can cancel anytime from your account settings. You'll retain access until the end of your billing period.
QWhat payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards through our secure payment processor, Stripe.
Privacy & Security
QIs my data secure?
Yes. We use industry-standard encryption for all data transmission and storage. Your inventory data is private and only accessible to you and anyone you explicitly share it with.
QCan anyone scan my QR codes and see my stuff?
QR codes use unique, non-guessable URLs. While technically anyone with the URL can view a container's public info, they cannot edit or see private details without being a family member.
QCan I delete my account and data?
Yes. You can request complete account deletion from your settings. All your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
